FOR CARLA
Third gray day,
blowing rain,
plummeting temps.
Even so,
down my hill,
stalwart trees laugh and
shake their golden heads,
resplendent in
glorious garb.
One day when
I awaken to
barren branch,
I’ll be warmed by
memory of
her
courageous
dance.
She celebrates in
loftier climes
today.
